2010: 10 Years and No Stopping!

So, here we are at the start of not only another new year, but a brand new decade. 10 years ago, back when the millenium itself was new, I found myself behind the decks for the very first time. While the love affair was instantaneous, I would have never in my wildest dreams imagined that not only would I still be there behind those decks 10 years later, but that I would have grown so much and accomplished as much as I have. That's incredible! I believe 100% that perfecting your craft is a continuous process, and there's always something new to learn or a way to grow and improve, but all that's happened over the course of my 10 year career (and especially 2009) really does blow my mind. Along the way, I've had the pleasure of meeting and working with some pretty fantastic people... I can't even begin to thank them, and everyone who has supported me, enough.

As massive of a year as 2009 was for me, I will be working my ass off to make 2010 blow it out of the water. Expect new mixes to become available soon, and by the end of the year I plan to have a German-language version of the site online. But More than anything, my biggest goal for the next 365 days is to be able to play as many new events in as many new places as possible, while still returning to visit my favorite cities. I plan on spending a significant amount of time in Austria this year, which makes for a perfect springboard to other European locales, and I would certainly love some bookings in areas of North America I haven't been able to play yet. As always, serious inquiries are welcome to investigate my contact page and get in touch with me.

Happy New Year / Guten Rutsch / Buon Anno / etc... I look forward to all that the new year brings and wish all of you out there the very best. - Ilyssa (DJ Totentanz)

After some venue and scheduling difficulties, Philly Club Fight is officially back ON! Everybody knows that the Philadelphia Goth/Industrial scene is riddled with drama (what scene isn't?). The folks at InfestNation know that what can be annoying and stupid can also be massively entertaining in a different light, and so the bring you PCF in the spirit of "put your money where your mouth is... and have a great time doing so". This event will feature musical performances by NineTwelve and My Parasites, 3 DJs (Totentanz, Tim Tempest, and Syndicate) spinning the best in Industrial and EBM, and the main event: Jaws vs. Glitch duke it out in the first EVER B-List Celebrity Death Match. Never before has the airing of grievances been more entertaining. All ages are welcome.

Shadowland @ Chameleon Club

  • February 6th, 2010
  • DJ Totentanz FINALLY Invades Amish Country!
  • Doors Open At 9:00pm
  • $5 Entry
  • @ Chameleon Club
  • 223 N. Water St. | Lancaster, PA

After being postponed due to inclement weather, DJ Totentanz will finally make her debut appearance at Shadowland Lancaster. While a chunk of Central Pennsylvania is known mostly for its Pennsylvania Dutch inhabitants may seem like an unusual place for a goth/industrial party, Resident DJs Dave Ghoul and Kiltboy have been hosting the event successfully and consistently for several years. Who says Philly and Pittsburgh get to have all the fun?

Shadowland Lancaster was loosely affiliated with, but by no means identical to, the popular Philadelphia event that bore the same name. Entry is $5, but you must be 21+ with proper ID to attend this event. Amish girls on rumspringa especially welcome!

  • Doors Open At 9:00pm
  • $5 Entry
  • @ 2010 Lounge
  • 2010 9th St. NW (Between T and U) | Washington, DC

Washington DC's Dunkelheit is a monthly dark alternative dance party with a European emphasis. Every month, resident DJs Panic and Hardware spin a mix of EBM, Industrial, Synthpop, Noise, Goth, and Metal. For the March 2010 edition, they'll be joined by DJ Totentanz... you know, just to really blow the doors off the place ;) 2010 Lounge is located in central DC and is metro-accessible (U Street Station). Dunkelheit is an 18+ event (w/ ID) but you must be 21+ to drink alcohol. As a side note, while these things may or may not be part of the festivities (we'll see as it gets closer to the date of the gig), March 2010 is both Dunkelheit's 1 year anniversary as an event and DJ Totentanz's 10 year anniversary as a DJ. May there be many more to come!
